    Step On a Crack

It's Tuesday and I seem to be a lil panicky. So much to pack, or rather so much NOT to pack. It'll be absolute stupidity to go on a shopping vacation with a suitcase full. Doesn't quite help that the baggage limit is 20kg and I suspect my Samsonite weighs quite abit empty.

On a different note, I just bought a house, a double-storey terrace. If u told me few months ago that I'll be buying a place of my own, I would have laughed in ur face and told u to get lost. Financially I'm able to scrap by paying a mortgage, but it's just not something that crossed my mind. If I should be paying for anything, it would be the car that my dad still pays. Though technically my brother's driving my car and I'm driving my dad's other car. What a bunch of free-loaders. Just kidding. :p

    Something borrowed, something blue

It's finally November! Though it's only the 3rd day, I know it's gonna pass by in just a blink of an eye. I have so much on my mental calendar, filled to December actually.

There's Jun's wedding luncheon on the 15th, for the bride's side, and then there's the 21st which is the actual day itself. I'll be in town for the whole of that week and I predict things going a lil crazy the Friday prior 'cos that's when the guests will all be arriving. Oh by the way, Jun's like the sister I never had. She can be cranky and full of drama, and difficult to read at times. I can barely put into words how she is but deep inside, I just know. They say it's not the number of friends that you have, what counts is the one who'll stick with you no matter what. I'm blessed, I have 3 of them. And 2 are getting married before the year ends!!!!!!!!

Seriously, apart from entertaining our mutual friends, and ferrying them back and forth between the different venues, I've no idea what I'm supposed to do. You see, I'm the bridesmaid/MOH kinda thing. Clueless as of today, and tomorrow even.

After all that is over and done with, there's just 1 day to recuperate before I fly off to Taiwan for a week! What started off as a shopping/girly vacation for 2 best buddies, ended up being a family vacation. I got both QL and my tickets back in June when Malaysia Airlines(MAS) was having a promotion. RM778 (~USD230) for return tics!! It can't get any better than that. Well, who would have guessed that MAS would have another promotion sometime last month, and my parents thought why not?? My brother who was due to fly back here on the day I leave (he said it's fated, this way he doesn't need to spend money on me!), had to reschedule. Hah! Now he has to entertain me as well. Bwahahahhaa.

Oh yea, I need shoes. Something like this would be perfect. Well, 'cept for the size of the heel.

And a red bridesmaid dress for Glad's wedding in Dec.

  • Who said crushes are just for schoolgirls???

I like how each time I see him, he's smiling. There's just something in the smile that lights up the room. Or that time when he looked up, unexpectedly saw me standing there, did a double-take and said hi coupled with a boyish wave (thinking back abt it still makes me grin). Starting those small chats that we had just seem so effortless to him. I've got to admit I'm impressed.

I know so lil abt u, and maybe it's better this way; to have this charming, boy-next-door image fixated in my mind. At least when we do bump into each other, a smile and a hi is enough.

I'm not the kind of girl who pursues a guy, perhaps I'm just old-fashioned this way. Lest he makes a move, my crush will just be a crush.

  • Tottering to the island down south!

It's been such a long time since I last met up with the girls and there's never a dull moment when we get together. Like Za said, there's no pretense, room to be our silly selves and laugh to our hearts' content.

On another note, desserts are becoming or rather, have become such a huge part of the societal life of Singaporeans that I had SEVEN slices of cakes on THREE different occasions in ONE day! Of 'cos I shared! :p

Dinner at Sofra, a Turkish restaurant at Shaw Towers, where the portions were HUGE!!!

Drinks later at tcc. I have no idea what's so funny.

    Still not quite ready.

    Uh uh...not yet!

    Finally!

Pals from UB. Ahhh, it's been yeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaars!

The meaning of death never really fully unravels til it hits home.

My grandma was bedridden the past few months, slowly succumbing to the effects of old age. Before our very own eyes, we saw the life cycle completing its circle. One by one her organs started shutting down, like how the lights would go off in a room starting from the nearest to the farthest on the other end of the room. No one knew how long she could hold on: days, weeks, months or even years.

Technically she was alive, figuratively she wasn't. I mean she was there but not being a physically active part of our life. Even when she wasn't herself, she was there! Now that she's gone, it's like something's missing though there hasn't been any change. Well, 'cept that out of habit I'd pop in to check on her only to see an empty space where she used to lay asleep.

Hmmm...my grandma, she's really gone. No more.

97, that's a very long time to be alive. And now she's somewhere better. Smile for I know she's in heaven.
